Atlanta, GA — For the past 8 years, the Governor’s Office on Highway Safety has teamed up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving – Georgia (MADD-GA) to celebrate law enforcement officers and agencies, DUI prosecutors, and community leaders for abating DUI crashes and fatalities, innovation in detecting, investigating, and prosecuting impaired drivers, and deterring our youth from underage drinking. 440 individuals and organizations were nominated for outstanding service in communities throughout the state of Georgia for the 8th Annual Golden Shield Honors.
MADD-GA and GOHS will recognize the DUI Achievement, DUI Heroes, Officer of the Year, Agency of the Year, DUI Task Force/HEAT Unit of the Year, Traffic Enforcement Network of the Year, Golden Achievement Award, and Jerry Thompson Award. Terry Schiavone, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Region 4 Administrator will present a special address to honorees, and the keynote presentation will be delivered by Georgia State Attorney General Sam Olens. Ted Hall of 11 Alive will emcee. Guests will be greeted by a few Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders as they arrive.
