Behave CEO, Lakeitha Grey, has been selected to present at the 7th Annual Georgia School of Addiction Studies August 26 through August 30 at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah, GA. The topic: Hang Up Your Straight Jacket: Escaping the Institutional Approach to Public Outreach.
“Human service organizations are often reluctant to implement new strategies and tactics that are relevant in today’s society,” states Grey. “In a world that is constantly evolving, it’s insane to dispute new approaches to combat social issues.”
According to Grey, this topic was inspired by the age old argument on the effectiveness of public service advertising. A 2001 study sponsored by the Kaiser Family Foundation revealed public service campaigns fail as a result of ineffective strategies. The workshop will teach participants to cultivate an environment that promotes development of fresh ideas, explore innovative platforms to deliver interventions, and examine exemplary public outreach and awareness campaigns.
“I want to loosen the restraints of traditional thinking,” declares Grey. “I’m so excited to be back for a 2nd year!”
Grey is slated to present on Tuesday, August 27th at 9:30 am. For more information on the conference, visit www.thegeorgiaschool.org.
